Home Group
Home Group is one if the UK’s largest providers of housing. Established in the North East of England in 1935, they now have a presence in England and Scotland supporting 160,000 residents across 55,000 properties. They are a social enterprise actively supporting some of the most vulnerable in society, including those with mental and physical health issues. For more than 80 years their mission has been to build homes, independence and aspiration.
The Problem
Home Group’s ambition was to improve its asset management by creating an integrated dataset from across its various property management systems.
They wanted to create a single, most trusted and most accurate ‘golden record’ for every one of its properties, combined into a single unified stock list.
How we solved the problem
Sentinel provided their industry-leading master data management (MDM) system to integrate Home Group's data from all their housing management systems to provide a new property data asset.
Sentinel’s MDM platform includes external reference data such as the Post Office Address File (PAF) that proved invaluable in validating and matching address details to ensure that all of Home Group's property records could be properly identified and matched together.
Sentinel data specialists worked with the Home Group team to create all the housing-specific Portal screens, reports and extracts to support their data and business needs.

The new integrated view of properties highlighted data issues and inconsistencies across the system landscape, which has helped to drive up data quality.
In addition to allowing a single comprehensive dataset of all property assets and assisting with the maintenance of existing properties, the solution can support all elements of customer service and the management of building, marketing and sales.
The property data held in the MDM platform was regarded as the most complete and accurate version of data and as such it was used to support the implementation of Home Group's new Property Management system.
