Here’s an example of how we have helped one of our longest-standing clients with a proof of concept to help them better understand the risk factors most likely to dictate if someone is likely to become a perpetrator of domestic abuse.

In partnership with our long-standing client, Liverpool City Council, Sentinel Partners has developed a proof of concept using artificial intelligence to support the identification of likely perpetrators of domestic abuse. The premise of the project was to explore whether machine learning capabilities could both confirm professional assumptions around likely precursors to domestic violence, and to identify further factors contributing to the risk of an individual being a perpetrator.

Liverpool City Council has worked with Sentinel Partners over a number of years to gather a comprehensive, cleansed, multi-agency data set which has been gathered in support of various initiatives across the city over time. This dataset because of its quality, size, history and breadth lends itself to considering this issue.

The proof of concept established that machine learning was able to identify in over 65% of cases that an individual was likely to commit domestic abuse, with factors identified including mental health issues, a history of child protection, having been a victim of domestic abuse and persistent absences from education.
